Should I Use Protein Powder For Fat Loss and Gaining Muscle?

This is just a quick post to answer many questions I get about whether to use protein powders and if so, when?

Ok protein powders are no ‘magic fix’. They will not grow muscles just by drinking them. First you put in the work (metabolic resistance) and then you provide the raw materials (protein) to rebuild muscles stronger. That’s it.

It also appears that there is no ‘magic time’ to take protein unless you are deficient of supply. You will eat or drink protein before and after exercise so when you do this is not really important as long as you do it. Eat after training and you will be fueling your muscles but don’t get hung up on an exact timing. Unless you are an athlete in competition, or a serious bodybuilder just eat as you normally would ensuring you have enough protein to meet your daily needs (1.2-1.6 grams per kg of lean bodyweight).

A great trick for those losing weight is to have a couple of raw vegetables and a protein drink ‘as the starter’ your lunch and dinner meals. This will not only be providing you with good quality food and help in hitting your fruit and veg targets; it will substantially reduce your appetite and therefore aid in FAT LOSS ! Try it.
