Since we are talking about both food and health and well being, one subject often missed is food hygiene.
I must admit I am abit of a junkie for TV programmes that uncover the horrors of bad hygiene in commercial kitchens. The stories they uncover make you think twice about where you choose to eat.
I also watch them to try to learn all I can about storing food, cooking food and general kitchen tips although I must admit, I find it very entertaining when bad stories are exposed. I don't watch TV as such but every now and again I discover a series via the TV channel iplayers and catch up sites and mark them to watch when I want some down time.
Recently I have been following BBC's 'The Food Inspectors' (it has the two guys from another favorite of mine 'Watchdog'. Other interesting series I have been glued to in the past have been about where our food comes from or whats in your food kind of stuff.
Here is a great site which really helps with tips on food hygiene and safety:
Some of the stories recently aired in the food inspectors have been truly horrific... one man was left paralysed from simply not cooking pork enough whilst another women developed kidney failure from eating in a noodle restaurant... !
Shows that you can never be too careful as the poisonous stuff is INVISIBLE so be very careful when working with food and even more careful when eating from restaurants and takeaways!
If you have any recommendations on this subject, I would love to hear them.
