Here is our basic stretch routine to be used upon completion of your bootcamp or full body session:
Hold each stretch for 30 seconds. Practise ‘hold and release’ or ‘breathing stretch’ to further improve your flexibility. If you have been given extra stretches you can add them accordingly.
Hold and Release
- Begin by getting into the stretch position
- After holding the stretch for about 20 seconds you should feel the muscle release (relaxing in the stretched position).
- When you feel the muscle relax – gently go further into the stretch and hold for the remaining duration (at least 10 seconds)
This simply means when you move into the stretch you breath out slowly as you stretch the muscle. Breath in and back off the stretch slightly. Breath out again whilst moving back into the stretch. As you continue to do this extending the out breath as long as you can whilst moving further and further into the stretch you should find the flexibility increases.
